Common College Application Essay Prompts - Things to Expect With Your Essay

Common College Application Essay Prompts - Things to Expect With Your EssayA lot of colleges want to make sure you do well on your College Application essay prompt, so they are looking for a variety of different things in order to make sure that they will have a great writer. There are a few common college application essay prompts that you can expect to find in most college applications. So what can you expect when writing your essay? One of the first things you will find with most college application essay prompts is the essay format. You will find it tends to be long and wordy, with paragraphs beginning with a list of the reader's responsibilities, and the essay itself at the end. You will also find that this format has four parts, including an introduction, then a middle section which is generally an introduction to the author, where the writer will talk about their background, their interest or passion, and finally a conclusion.Another one of the common college application essay prompts is the length of the essay. This tends to be around five to eight pages, although there are some that are over twelve pages. Most colleges only accept essays that are under five pages, but there are a few that go a little longer than that. Finally, many college application essay prompts ask the student to write a short persuasive argument for why they should be accepted into the college. This may be required by the admissions office, or it may be up to the student. Some colleges don't really require this at all, while others will have certain criteria. The argument needs to be written quickly, as it can be read verbatim in the College Admission Council's admission guide. What you do need to know before you write your essay is that you can write it in a couple of different styles. You will find that you can either use your own words or if you choose, there are plenty of examples and guidelines in the guides that you will be required to follow. Some admissions offices will even allow you to use their essay examples in your essay. Now that you know what is expected of you with your essay, how do you go about writing one that will stand out from the rest? First, remember that colleges want to know your life story, so you will want to describe your interests, your passions, and anything else that makes you special. Just make sure that your essay is honest and genuine.Next, make sure that your essay has a nice flow. Don't make it so long that you think it is too hard to write. It should be interesting and readable, but not so long that it has no value to the college. Remember that colleges will only accept essays that are a minimum of 5 pages long. Finally, don't let any college office or advisor discourage you from your goal to be accepted into their college. They know very well that you have done everything they ask of you, and they want you to know it. Remember that they are probably competing against hundreds of other applicants for just one college admissio n, so they are going to do whatever they can to get your attention.
